Graphistudios, a premier manufacturer of digital coffee table books, has selected
the black and white artistry of Michael Zide to demonstrate it's fine photographic
reproduction with this 84 page collection of Martha's Vineyard photographs.
If you attended the WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International) trade show this March 13-19 in Las Vegas, and took a moment to visit the booth of the premiere manufacturer of high quality digital coffee table books, GraphiStudios, one of their display books may seem familiar. It was a 12x12 hardcover coffee table edition of “Secret Spaces, Martha’s Vineyard Beyond the Landmarks”. The black and white landscape images of former Martha’s Vineyard resident Michael Zide’s was reproduced exquisitely by GraphiStudios of Italy. Not far from GraphiStudios, a display featuring Zide's landscapes was at the Millers Professional Imaging booth. Millers, the largest photographic lab in the country servicing the portrait and wedding industry, featured a 12x12 version of Zide's work in their hard cover digital coffee table version of "Witness, A life withing the landscape" which is the collected black and white landscapes from Martha's Vineyard, the Southwest and Western Massachusetts. Both companies, as well as the Asukabook company of Japan, use Zide's work to showcase their beautiful black and white printing technologies.
Zide, a native of California, lived and photographed on Martha's Vineyard island for over 12 years. As he says, “I brought a vision of the landscape from my childhood in the West to the East Coast. Vast and dramatic, these were the vistas and scenery that shaped my ideas of landscape photography. On the Island, the intimacy of this landscape, its subtlety scale, and moodiness challenged my idea of gesture and personal vision. I couldn’t have been more fortunate than to have developed my skills in this very special landscape environment.”
